The tragic events of September 11, 2001 forever changed the lives of every American and of freedom-loving people around the world. Tewksbury lost two of its citizens, Peter Gay and Peter Hashem, on that September morning. We dedicate this Memorial Pavilion to them and all the brave souls whose lives were cut short.
The Project
The vision to erect a lasting memorial to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack has become a reality. In 2003, the project began with a dedicated leadership team of Fred Simon, Dick Cuoco, John Ryan, and Jim Carter. They presented their vision to the community and on September 11, 2004 they gathered for the ground breaking ceremony.
United We Stand
An outpouring of support came from the local community, throughout America, and many countries around the world. The tragedy brought together people in ways we have never seen before. It is the strength and passion of the survivors that has made this memorial possible.
On September 11, 2005 the Tewksbury 9-11 Memorial was dedicated to all those who fell on 9/11 and the months to follow.
